Seawind Catamarans is one of Australia’s most established catamaran builders. Founded in Sydney in 1982, the shipyard designs and produces performance cruising catamarans for discerning sailors who demand seaworthiness, safety, and exceptional sailing performance. Today, Seawind models are built in modern production facilities in Vietnam and, for the European market, also in Turkey, before being delivered to owners worldwide.
From the very beginning, founder Richard Ward set out to build catamarans that combine true sailing performance with high levels of comfort and uncompromising safety. What started with the first successful trailerable and cruising catamarans has evolved over four decades into an internationally respected brand, with yachts now sailing in every ocean of the world. Seawind Catamarans are especially well regarded among bluewater sailors for their robust construction, balanced sailing characteristics, and highly practical, real-world design solutions.
A hallmark of all SEAWIND designs is the protected twin helm station layout, outstanding all-round visibility, the innovative open-plan concept with a seamless flow between cockpit and saloon, and a clear focus on simple, safe handling, even with a small crew. This combination of performance, comfort, and safety makes SEAWIND one of the most compelling options in the premium owner-catamaran segment.
With the current range including the Seawind 1170, Seawind 1270, Seawind 1370, and the flagship Seawind 1600, the shipyard offers a modern lineup tailored to bluewater cruisers and ambitious long-distance sailors. The Seawind Group now employs more than 250 people, operates a global dealer and service network, and is recognized as one of the leading manufacturers of sailing multihulls worldwide.
